The Cracolici’s Home Business is Happy & Healthy

Happy & Healthy is a franchise that distributes to over 115 franchisees nationwide, covering 38 states and Puerto Rico. The product is a low-fat, fruit-filled, dessert bar that franchisees market in their areas. One franchise is owned by Anthony and Tammy Cracolici, now in its 3^rd year of operation and expansion. They started by leaping into the home-based business full force. The Cracolici’s first sampled the product at a small business show. They researched the company and decided to pursue becoming a franchisee.

At the time, it was a big risk for the Cracolici’s. Tony was out of work. After 20 years in the aerospace industry, he was a product of the crushed layoffs in the 1990s. After already moving 8 times in the industry and now with a young son, Tony and Tammy decided to take a layoff and stay put.

Now they were faced with a new home-based business. A marketing consultant from Happy & Healthy helped train the Cracolici’s and

develop initial contracts. Capital equipment in the form of point-of-purchase freezers was provided. To date, the Cracolici’s have developed 60 corporate accounts including health food stores, hospitals and businesses. These accounts either already have freezers on-site that the Cracolici’s stock or they provide the freezers to stock the product.Tammy works the home business full-time while Tony works it part-time. Their objective is to expand to where Tony works full-time because as he says, "After working from home, we’ve found that life with our son Tommy and the freedom we’ve achieved is the life we want." When asked what it takes for success at home, Tony says, "discipline, flexibility, a good product and providing good service." So what are their future plans? "We are moving to increase our volume, now running at about $8,000 gross receipts a month." They hope to build on the leverage they have with their customer base and offer additional lines of products as they continue to strive for self-sufficiency in a happy and healthy way.
